foodie finds :: lucky's famous burgers

370 w 52nd street
new york, ny 10019

be sure to bring your sunglasses - this place is bright! it's like orange and yellow blew up in there - and not in a good way. perhaps this was the tactic used to divert your attention away from the less than par burgers and freezer-burned fries. now - as for price - it's super cheap - but consider what you are paying for. dry burgers with sauces that you can't quite make out for flavors. i get mine with jalapeos to kill off anything that may be questionable.

visit this place when you are down to your last buck and staggering out of a bar and in need of a quick fix that is not pizza. then and only then you'll feel lucky to have these burgers.

say something photo :: random showtune?

...pain in my heart. caused by you! if you get the reference - i owe you a cookie. take away the 'drops' of course. or is it asain? pirrow? the world may never know.

taken at the orpheum theare in boson while attending the margaret cho concert. do you call it a concert if it's a comedian or is it just a show - oh well - one of the two.

say something photo :: bad day

talk about a bad day! this guy's entire world tied to his shopping cart took a digger on the corner of 54th and 8th avenue. sucks to be him - what was worse - trying to watch him pick the entire pile up at one time. stupid people - stupid issues.

say something photo :: graffiti (nyc subway)

gotta love random graffiti in the nyc subway. not sure if the person who wrote this is trying to put a dig on the woman in the ad or if it's a global statement in general. who knows what the mind of a sharpie marker-wielding hooligan is thinking.

say something photo :: ragtime

since the tony awards are tonight i though this was appropriate - i found this in the bathroom stall (hush your dirty minds) while seeing 'young frankenstein' on broadway. thought it was an interesting statement. 'ragtime' was a good show but 'forever' may be pushing it.

say something photo :: fat nap (nyc subway)

ah new york city. the sights - the sounds - the bums on the subway. how i do love thee! and bums - what's not to love - they stink - they talk to the random voices in their heads - sometimes they even have arguments with them - so much fun - and sometimes you get fantastic fat nap shots from them. like this one for instance. not for nothing - new york is always one of the best places to find the random fat naps in the world. and as you all know - the nyc subway is often the best places to find them. double whammy here - ah new york! how could anyone live anywhere else - well unless they are in london or buenos aires - i do love them both as well. but i digress. now - back to the fat nap and the tribute to bums on the nyc subway!

say something photo :: what god says

just letting you know...

say something photo :: fat nap (boston)

fat nap boston. i know i know it's been a while. this fat nap was found at the amtrak station across from copley square in boston. what form - what presence. definitely a 10 all the way! this picture was actually taken in conjunction with my birthday celebration back in april. man - i need to get back on the ball with this stuff. enjoy!

gay.com interview

i was recently interviewed by the josh rotter at gay.com on my 'guide to new york.' click the link to read the interview. we used this pic for the interview. my coworker alison took it. thanks alison. mom hates it. i think i look fun and festive - you know - 2 things that i am not! haha - i'll fool them all i tell you - fool them all! enjoy the interview - let me know what you think!

foodie finds :: koi

11 n dean st.
englewood, nj 07631

it's cute - it's trendy - the staff is sassy and fun. reasonable prices for lunchtime sushi. food's not that bad either. the rolls and sushi were quality and fresh and the edamame was a salty dream! it's more trendy and casual than the traditional daruma down the street. try it out if you are hankering for sushi in englewood!

foodie finds :: blossom

blossom vegan restaurant
187 9th ave
new york, ny 10011

hmm - i have an issue with pretension disguised as a restaurant - that's what i felt this place was all about. granted - the food wasn't bad at all. i'm not a vegetarian but do like to explore all cuisines and i was impressed with the food. it was extremely overpriced tofu however.

the staff - we could have been invisible for the first half of the meal. the decor was just uninviting and cold. ethan hawke must love the place - he was there at the table next to us and i noticed he's been spotted by fellow yelpers in other posts about this place.

i don't know - doubt i'd go back - maybe i was just in a bad mood - i've had better for less in the city with a welcoming staff and feeling throughout.

wow - blown away - thought the prices were only high because of location but worth the quick pop in on the way to the theatre. very cool decor - many varieties to chose from: saki and fish. give it a try.
