bistro les amis

i have mixed reviews on this place. cute and quaint—it is. had a lovely time sitting outside on a sunny day having lunch. service was eh.

our original waiter we saw once—he took our order and bam—was gone. when our order finally came—it was backwards—my bread on my companion's sandwich—his on mine—my sides with his—his with mine. not that big of a deal. we pointed it out to the woman there—who i think was in charge of the place—she chuckled and had another guy take them away to correct the situation. all they did was switch the bread and the plates—seems innocent enough right? wrong—the honey mustard sauce that would have tasted great with the brie and turkey my companion had ordered—didn't go too hot with the spicy blackened chicken. i ended up eating mine without the bread (which also meant without the honey mustard) and it was a pretty good piece of blackened chicken. he ordered the honey mustard on the side and had a pretty good sandwich.

in all—i guess one could chalk it up as lunchtime madness—but sometimes the devil is in the details. i'll give them a second shot if i'm ever in the area again—the endive salad i had to start was really good—especially on the scorcher of a day it was.
